New library: The new Camano Island Library, a part of the Sno-Isle Libraries system, celebrates a grand opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at its newly renovated location in the Terry’s Corner complex at 848 N. Night Out, Snohomish: National Night Out will be celebrated by Snohomish County from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 4 at Willis Tucker Community Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish. The annual free event features emergency vehicles — including the arrival of a Sheriff’s Office search-and-rescue helicopter — and booths with safety tips. New this year is a K-9 unit demonstration. Night Out, Stanwood: The Stanwood National Night Out event is set for 6-9 p.m. Aug. 4 in the parking lot of the former Thrifty Foods, 27200 90th Ave. NW. A search-and-rescue helicopter will fly in, joining deputies from Stanwood Police. Also, a K-9 unit demonstration, live music, free food and face painting, and more.

Night Out, Mountlake Terrace: The Mountlake Terrace National Night Out celebration runs 6-9 p.m. Aug. 4 at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W. Family bike ride: The Marysville Family YMCA holds an All-In Family Bike Ride, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 8 on Centennial Trail. The poker ride also features family-friendly activities at the trail head all day. Routes are 8, 16, 36, 48, or 60 miles, plus a 2-mile training wheel ride. Textile drive: A textile collection event is set for 3-7 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Everett Mall to help raise money for automated external defibrillators for local schools. The event is in memory of Brett Jensen, a Cascade grad who died in 2002 in a fall at his fraternity at the University of Washington. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund. Volunteers, car seats: The Lynnwood Police Department seeks volunteer car seat technicians. A four-day training (spread over two weeks) is required and provided at no cost. Enhance Fitness: Group Health Medicare members are invited to take a low-impact aerobics class for free.
