Nativity collectors
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Smokey Point is gearing up for its annual Arlington Nativity Festival. People with nativity sets are encouraged to loan them to the public show. More info: www.arlingtonnativityfestival.info. The show runs from Dec. 8-11.
Learn about law enforcement: The Lynnwood Police Department’s next Citizens Academy starts Jan. 12. The free program runs for 14 weeks on Thursday evenings. Aspiring volunteers are especially welcome. Registration is required: 425-670-5635.
Check pet licenses: In some cities, pet licenses need to be renewed. Mountlake Terrace has sent reminders in the mail, according to a news release. A pet license is the best way to ensure the safe return of a lost pet. Check with your police department for information.
Firefighter fundraiser: Lake Stevens firefighters plan a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Frontier Village Ixtapa restaurant. Their tips will go toward Christmas presents for children in need. The program is coordinated with the Lake Stevens Family Center and has benefited more than 450 children over the past 13 years. Stop by a Lake Stevens fire station for more ways to get involved. Checks and unwrapped toys are accepted until Dec. 3.
