Man shot after alleged dispute with neighbor near Oak Harbor

OAK HARBOR — A man was shot and wounded Sunday while allegedly causing a disturbance at his neighbor’s house.

The incident was reported just before 3 p.m. along Sonic Lane, northeast of Oak Harbor.

The neighbor had a no-contact order against the man, 63, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

The two were arguing, and the man reportedly struck the neighbor with his car. The neighbor told police he feared for his life and fired one shot at the man, who was taken to a Seattle hospital.

He is expected to survive his injuries. No arrests were made as of Monday.
