MONROE — The city is looking to hire a new administrator.

City administrator Gene Brazel is leaving for Lake Stevens this week. Brazel’s last day in Monroe was Tuesday. He is set to step in as city administrator in Lake Stevens, where the mayor says “his plate’s going to be full.” Brazel has worked in Monroe from more than 30 years, seven of them as city administrator.

Monroe hired the Prothman Company to help with the search for a new administrator. The company placed David Moseley as interim administrator. The goal is to hire a permanent city administrator in the next three or four months, according to the city.
