OAK HARBOR — A man who was hit and killed by a car earlier this week while walking south of Oak Harbor has been identified as Anthony Hermann, 55.

Police believe they’ve found a car connected with the collision, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives are asking for the public’s help to track where the car was prior to Hermann’s death.

The collision happened sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and early Monday morning. Hermann reportedly was walking along the shoulder in the 30000 block of Highway 20. He might have been carrying a flashlight, police said.

Detectives found evidence that led them to a 2004 blue Jaguar XD4 with license plate number AFJ4435.

Anyone who might have seen the car late Sunday night or Monday morning is asked to call 360-679-9567 or email tips@co.island.wa.us.
