Warmer temperatures and rain headed this way

EVERETT — Warm and rainy weather is forecast to follow Monday’s snow.

A warm front is expected to travel north through Western Washington on Wednesday, raising snow levels and bringing rain to Snohomish County.

About three inches of rain may fall between Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the high 40s in the lowlands. The wind chill could make it feel colder.

There is a possibility that one or more rivers might reach flood stage on Thursday or Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Melting snow in the lowlands could increase the likelihood for river run-off.

However, the window for any flooding is short. Rain should transition to snow in the mountains by Thursday evening. About an inch and a half of rain is forecast for Everett on Wednesday and Thursday.

In Gold Bar, rain is expected to be heaviest on Wednesday night. About one to two inches could fall, according to the weather service.
