1 killed, 1 injured in crash on U.S. 2; highway reopened

SNOHOMISH — A collision on U.S. 2 killed one driver and left another with life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon.
A Kia Rio was heading east on U.S. 2 shortly after 3 p.m.
The car was approaching the interchange with Highway 9 when it crossed the centerline, said Sgt. Mark Francis with the Washington State Patrol. It struck a westbound Suzuki head on, he said.
The driver in the Kia died. Paramedics took the other driver to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
No other injuries were reported.
Both east and westbound lanes were closed for several hours.
State Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
