Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by car in Edmonds

EDMONDS — An 87-year-old man was struck by a car Tuesday morning while was crossing a street in southeast Edmonds.

The collision happened shortly after 7 a.m. The man was in a crosswalk at the intersection of 76th Avenue West and 224th Street SW. A Jeep was traveling east toward Highway 99. The driver stopped at the intersection but didn’t see the man, Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley said.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is expected to survive.

A section of 76th Avenue West was blocked off for hours.
