Spring tea: The Stanwood Area Historical Society plans its sixth annual Spring Tea and Vintage Fashion Exhibit. Local women leaders will be honored. The exhibit showcases uniforms and stories of veterans from the area. A raffle and silent auction also will be held. The event is scheduled from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 29. Tea is served at 1:30 p.m. at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Hall, 27130 102nd Ave. For more information, call 360-629-6110 or go to www.sahs-fncc.org.

Fire department merger: Two public meetings are planned this month about a proposal to merge the Lynnwood Fire Department and Snohomish County Fire District 1 into a new agency. Both meetings include root beer floats. One is planned from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 12 at the Lynnwood Senior Center, with presentations at 4 and 5 p.m. The next is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 13 at Fire Station 21 near Martha Lake, with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Topics will include funding and management.

The proposal is to create a regional fire authority, a new taxing agency similar to what exists in Stanwood. It will require a public vote at an undecided date, possibly in the primary election in August. For more information, go to www.LynnwoodFD1RFA.com.

Thank a librarian: Next week, starting Sunday, is National Library Week.
