Little Whiskers: The Camano Animal Shelter Association is holding its annual Little Whiskers Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter on East Camano Drive. This “baby shower” collects items needed to handle the higher numbers of kittens expected this time of year. Also Saturday, CASA offers $10 microchip service for cats and dogs. Prescription drop-off: Anyone with unwanted medications can dispose of them anonymously and at no cost April 29. Prescriptions in the form of pills and patches can be dropped off at the Island County Sheriff’s Office, 5521 E. Harbor Road, and the Coupeville Marshals Office, 4 NE Seventh St. Needles and liquids are not accepted.
The Oak Harbor Police Department also has a secure drop box available throughout the year.
Seattle Hill Road work: Snohomish County is marking the start of work on Seattle Hill Road with a ground-breaking ceremony from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Triway Grange Hall, 3509 Seattle Hill Road, Mill Creek. The county is adding a center turn lane, bike lanes, curbs and sidewalks from 132nd Street SE to 35th Avenue SE.
