Reel World Cinema: April 21 in the Calvin Lounge at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Potluck at 6 p.m. Movie “A River Runs Through It” (Robert Redford, 1992) at 7 p.m. Discussion follows the movie. Based on Norman Maclean’s novel, the film is set in Montana during World War I and prohibition. On April 28, see Mission Blue, and on May 5, The Host.
“A Fierce Fire”: Celebrate Earth Day at 6:30 p.m. April 22 at Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1607 Fourth St., Marysville. The film traces the history of the environmental movement. Donations accepted. Refreshments served. Sponsored by 350 Everett, Sierra Club, Everett United Church of Christ, Snohomish County League of Women Voters, Pilchuck Audubon and 38th District Democrats.

Kubrick Film Series: See a free showing of Kubrick’s “Spartacus” at noon April 26 at the Evergreen branch of the Everett Public Library, 9512 Evergreen Way. Kirk Douglas is Spartacus. Also stars Laurence Olivier, Tony Curtis, Peter Ustinov, Charles Laughton and Jean Simmons.
Ebey’s Reserve Film Festival: Seven film shorts from the 50-Hour FilmSlam will be shown at 5 p.m. May 6 at the Coupeville High School Performing Arts Center, 501 S. Main St. Admission is $10. Doors open at 4 p.m. Popcorn and lemonade available for purchase. Art auction included. Proceeds benefit Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve.

Twisted Flicks: The Historic Everett Theatre hosts the region’s only live movie re-dubbing show, which merges improv comedy and old B movies. Everett Public Library Sunday Films: On May 21 at 2 p.m., see “Secrets of War.” The free showing is in the auditorium at the main library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. In Dutch with English subtitles. Dutch school boys spend the summer of 1943 playing soldiers. Things change when the father of one of the boys becomes a Nazi sympathizer and then town mayor.
