MARYSVILLE — The state Department of Ecology is proposing taking a Marysville business off its list of contaminated sites.

The soil on the property of Ed’s Transmission Exchange, located at 10226 State Ave., had been contaminated with lead and petroleum products.

The site has been home to an auto repair business since 1969, and first came to Ecology’s attention in 1992 for reported mismanagement of waste oil.

The business owner subsequently removed 181 tons of contaminated soil in 2013. Testing showed that groundwater had not been impacted by the contamination.

To remove the business from the list of contaminated sites, Ecology must go through a public comment process until July 20. Comments can be mailed to Roger Nye, Site Manager, Washington State Department of Ecology, 3190 160th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98008, or emailed to roger.nye@ecy.wa.gov.
