Watch: Have shear fun with alpacas
“Farm to Fashion” comes to local alpaca ranches with public shearing events featuring shearer Matt Best on June 14 in Lake Stevens and June 19-20 in Monroe. Participating farmers benefit by reducing their backlog of fiber stores, while the public gains awareness about alpacas and the roles their wool will play in a coming fall fashion runway show.
The project of Fibershed of the Greater Northwest also benefits the Snohomish and Monroe cold weather shelters, for which the group is making sleeping mats and gloves.
The events are June 14 at Longneckers Alpaca and Fine Fiber Ranch, 9506 131st Ave. NE, Lake Stevens, and June 19-20 at Casa De Arboles Fine Fiber Farm, 10320 227th Ave. SE, Monroe.
