Pancake breakfasts
Bothell: 8-11 a.m. July 1 and 15 (first and third Saturdays) at the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 E Riverside Drive. Cost is $5.
Snohomish: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 1 (first Saturday) at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. Pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and more. Cost is $5, $3 for kids.
Edmonds: 8:30-9:30 a.m. July 7 (first Friday) at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. Pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs, ham, biscuits and sausage gravy, beverages. Cost is $5.
Monroe: 8-10:30 a.m. July 15 (third Saturday) at the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Cost is $5, $3 younger than 12.
Fourth of July events in Arlington
Arlington’s Fourth of July celebrations will include a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at Haller Park, a Hometown Fourth celebration from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Legion Park, parades along Olympic Avenue starting at 4:30 p.m., the Rotary Duck Dash at 7:30 p.m. at Haller Park, and the fireworks show at about 10 p.m. at the Boys &Girls Club.
The last day to enter the Grand Parade is Friday.

Opioid addiction talk in Lake Stevens
The Lake Stevens Senior Center and the Lake Stevens Police Department plan a public event July 12 to collect unwanted medication and talk about opioids and addiction. The event is set for 12:30 p.m. at the senior center, 2302 Soper Hill Road.

Firefighter breakfast
Silvana firefighters will serve up hearty fare at a Fourth of July Breakfast, 7 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Willow and Jim’s Country Cafe, 1421 Pioneer Highway. Raffle tickets for the fair will be for sale. Proceeds benefit Snohomish County Fire District 19.

RSVP for good works
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by Catholic Community Services, seeks people age 55 and older for volunteer positions, such as drivers, food bank workers, tax preparers, tasks with Habitat for Humanity and more.
Volunteer locations are across the county with varying days and times of commitment.

HEADS UP
Update on search for District 1 fire chief
Snohomish County Fire District 1 based in south Everett is seeking a new chief. The fire commissioners hope to review a list of finalists in July.
The commissioners will seek input from cities that contract with the district for services, including Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace. Then they will work on a timeline for interviews, Fire Chief Brad Reading said.
