Angry Birds attack

Children ages 5 to 11 can learn how to build stable structures — then test them under an “Angry Birds” attack — at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd.

Juggling supershow at libraries

Kids are invited to kick off the summer at a Joshua J. Supershow on Thursday. The juggling and comedy act comes to local libraries:

– 11 a.m. at the Lake Stevens Library, 1804 Main St.

– 2 p.m. at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave.

– 6:30 p.m. at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW

Expect audience participation.

Arlington Street Fair

The annual Arlington Street Fair runs July 7-9 on Olympic Avenue. Street Fair times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Find vendors, food and a farmers market, along with live entertainment at Legion Park.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Arlington Business Association.

These are the same dates as the Arlington Fly-In. A shuttle will run between the airport and downtown on Friday and Saturday.

Exchange your worn flag

The Fleet Reserve Association Branch 170 of Everett will offer new U.S. flags in exchange for old, tattered or otherwise worn flags, from 11 a.m. to around 5 p.m. July 8 at 6802 Beverly Blvd. The flags measure three feet by five feet. Old flags will be properly disposed of according to the U.S. Flag Code.

This is a free service. “It is an honor for us to be able to do this for the community,” branch President Irving Salsbury said.

WAYS TO HELP

Fun run helps Terrace schools

The Mountlake Terrace 5K Fun Run and Walk is set for July 29. The event is organized by the Cedar Way Elementary PTO and coincides with the Tour de Terrace community festival. Registration is $25, $20 for youth, and kids age 5 and younger are free. Fees go up $5 the day of the race.

HEADS UP

Jetty Island ferry starts up

The passenger ferry to Jetty Island starts Wednesday from the landing and boat launch at 10th Street and W. Marine View Drive on the Everett waterfront. Jetty Island Days runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 4.

Everett residents and groups of eight or more can make reservations with at least 48 hours notice. Call 425-257-8304 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.

The suggested donation is $2 per adult, $1 per child. Parking is $3.
