Arlington: Centennial Trail gap complete
Snohomish County and Arlington officials, the Snohomish County Arts Commission and the Snohomish County Trail Coalition plan to celebrate the opening of what was the gap in the Arlington-to-Snohomish Centennial Trail.
The gap in the trail, from 159th to 172nd NE, had discouraged trail users from making their way into Arlington.
The dedication is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Armar Road trailhead, 15333 67th Ave. NE.
Library friends group looking for members
The Arlington Friends of the Library group is set to meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave.
The organization, which supports library programs for adults and young people, is looking for new members.

Lake Stevens: Learn to budget for survival
The Lake Stevens Family Center is offering a new, free service called Survival Budgeting.
Participants work in small groups to get help with their finances.
The five-week class runs 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays beginning Oct. 19.

Chamber seeks Oktoberfest sponsors
The Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce continues to seek sponsorships of its Oktoberfest.
The festival is set for 3 p.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Saturday in downtown Lake Stevens.
Proceeds help fund the operation of the chamber office. Lake Stevens businesses are encouraged to participate.

Stanwood: Music grant applications due
Through Nov. 11, the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation is accepting applications for music grants to pay for music lessons or instruments.
The Bruce Kollmar memorial scholarship is for middle school and high school students, including home-schooled teens, with a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
The Jon Metzger scholarship is open to open to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from Stanwood Middle, Port Susan Middle or home schools.
