‘Project Runway’ purse and more available at Darrington dinner auction

Wyonne Perrault says they would love to have a big crowd at a benefit Saturday night in Darrington.
She could get her wish when word gets out about one of the auction items, with a link to “Project Runway” on TV.
The Darrington Family Support and Resource Center offers its annual Mystery Dinner Theater at 6 p.m. Register at 5 p.m. at Darrington Elementary School, 1075 Fir St.
Tickets are $30, $50 for a couple or $200 for a table. For more information, call 360-436-0308.
It’s a standard mystery night when someone will probably be killed, hypothetically, and others must solve the crime.
For the auction portion of the evening, there will be a vintage purse donated by Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen. And a purse designed by Michele Rastovich, director of Snohomish County Community Mobilization.
They even received a Coach purse from Holly Martinez, wife of former Mariner Edgar Martinez, with the Edgar Martinez Foundation.
I am getting to the big news.
Perrault, who said she is the director at the Darrington center, and the custodian, and the dishwasher, and receptionist, was watching “Project Runway,” a reality TV show, with her daughter, Harmony Baker, who was home briefly from college in California.
Baker recognized a contestant on the show, Josh Christensen, who is from Snohomish.
It turns out that Perrault’s sister, Wendy Christensen, who lives in Snohomish and is no relation to Josh Christensen, knew the late Pam Christensen, the mother of Josh.
Wendy contacted Josh in California and told him about the benefit. Tuesday, Josh said he was sending a tote he designed and made to Darrington to donate to the cause.
Perrault says they are on pins and needles waiting for the delivery.
“I can hardly stand it,” she said. “I’m a huge fan of the show.”
Sorry to note Josh Christensen was booted early in the competition, brought back, then booted again.

Pique News Magazine from Whistler, B.C., offered an update on Five Alarm Funk.
The 10-member jazz band apparently wowed the crowd at Summer Meltdown in Darrington.
According to writer Stephen Smysnuik, Five Alarm Funk will play in Whistler this weekend.
“Five Alarm Funk’s live show includes choreographed arm motions, dance moves and head bobbing to the funky beats being belted out,” Smysnuik wrote.
The Vancouver B.C. group’s third album, titled Anything Is Possible, was released in July, 2010, some five years after the publication of their debut self-titled album in 2005.
