Arlington: History of the grange movement
The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society in Arlington is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 135 S. Olympic Ave.
Richard Prouty plans to talk about the history of the Grange Movement and its effect on local ancestors.
The
society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The public is welcome to attend.

Camano Island: Hear island forests lecture
Before logging, the forests of Camano Island were dominated by evergreen conifers known for their massive size and long life spans, but now deciduous species are the dominant forest cover.
Linda Brubaker, emeritus professor, University of Washington College of Forest Resources, plans to talk about the island’s forests at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 East Camano Drive.
This free presentation is part of a public education series hosted the third Wednesday of the month by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks, as part of the Island County watershed project.

Lake Stevens: Comment on floodplain rules
Lake Stevens is working to update floodplain regulations.
The proposed amendments are being made to be consistent with the Endangered Species Act and to adopt the new federal insurance rate maps into the city code. The amendments affect properties abutting Lake Stevens and a portion of Catherine Creek inside city limits.
A time for public testimony on the proposed amendments is scheduled during the Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 Lake Stevens Council meetings at the Lake Stevens School District Education Center, 12309 22nd St. NE. The meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Marysville: Touch a Truck on Saturday
Kids can sit in the driver’s seat of some of Marysville’s biggest heavy-duty rigs Saturday.
The free Touch a Truck event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Asbery Field, 1605 Seventh St. NE.
Vehicles that are set to be part of the event include a dump truck, vactor truck, police vehicles, street sweeper, fire engines and garbage trucks.
Horns and sirens will be allowed from 10 a.m. to noon.
