Arlington: Donation aids fire district
Thanks to a donation, more Snohomish County Fire District 21 vehicles are outfitted with automated external defibrillators, equipment used to shock a heart back into rhythm.
Earlier this year, only about half of the fire district’s vehicles had them on board, said Branden Bates, assistant fire chief for Fire District 21, which covers rural areas near Arlington.
He approached Rural/Metro Ambulance services in Everett and gave them a letter asking for donations of any used defibrillators. The company handed over three.
Buying the equipment new would have cost about $2,000 each, Bates said.
“I think it’s great that they were able to give it to us,” he said.
