Qatar Airways collects 100th jet; agrees on new 747-8 delivery

The Boeing Co. delivered its 100th jet to Qatar Airways Friday, a 777-200LR.

It also used the time to reach agreement with the airline, which owns a third of Cargolux International, for delivery of the first 747-8 Freighter to Cargolux, Bloomberg reported.

Cargolux, the launch customer of the revamped 747, had declined delivery, citing performance issues, later described as higher than expected fuel consumption.

Bloomberg said Oct. 12 is the tentative delivery date for the first 747-8 pending approval from airline officials.
