Boeing shuffles senior leaders

The Boeing Co. named a new commercial airplanes sales chief in a string of leadership changes announced on Friday.
Ray Conner will lead Boeing’s airplane sales effort, replacing Marlin Dailey. Dailey was named president of Boeing in northern Europe, Germany and Africa.
The move comes
after Boeing allowed rival Airbus to grab a larger piece of a lucrative order with American Airlines last month. American had been loyal to Boeing for decades until it placed an order for 260 Airbus single-aisle aircraft. The U.S.-based carrier also ordered 200 Boeing jets.
“Marlin Dailey’s long-time international experience working in London and Brussels from where he led European sales for six years, as well as his background working global markets, brings unique customer, stakeholder and industry knowledge to this key role,” said Shep Hill, president of Boeing International.
Conner has been with Boeing’s commercial airplanes division for 34 years, most recently serving as the vice president of supply chain management. He previously had been vice president of sales. Conner’s new title will be vice president of sales and customer support.
“Combining our sales and customer support functions under Ray Conner’s leadership will better serve our customers in managing all requirements, from airplane acquisition to lifecycle needs,” said Jim Albaugh, president of Boeing’s airplanes division.
Stan Deal was named to succeed Conner. Deal has both sales and supplier management experience.
In a move meant to “reflect the strategic importance” of Boeing’s Charleston facility, the company announced that Jack Jones, general manager of Boeing South Carolina, will report to Albaugh. Boeing opened its second 787 final assembly site in North Charleston earlier this year.
Lianne Stein, vice president of Boeing International and president of Boeing Germany, is appointed vice president of global corporate citizenship. Stein succeeds Anne Roosevelt, who will retire Aug. 31.
All changes are effective Sept. 9.
