Arlington: Comment on county parks
The Snohomish County parks department plans to host the second of three open-house meetings about parks Tuesday night at Arlington High School.
The meeting is part of a process every six years to manage existing parks and to plan for future one
s. It’s scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the high school commons, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
A final meeting is planned for the same time Sept. 8 at Willis Tucker Park, east of Mill Creek.

Register for full-time kindergarten classes
Arlington School District is adding a full-time, tuition-based kindergarten program in each of its elementary schools for families who are interested in Monday-through-Friday kindergarten.
The current half-time kindergarten meets Monday and Wednesday and every other Friday or Tuesday and Thursday and every other Friday. The new Monday-through-Friday program will provide additional opportunities for socialization and reinforcement of academic skills.
The state funds half-time kindergarten, but the second half of the time requires tuition to be paid by parents. A deposit of $100 is due at the time of registration. Tuition is $265 per month for 10 months.
Families who qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for free or reduced tuition costs. Enrollment is first-come, first-served.

Darrington: Attend development meeting
The Darrington Area Business Association, the town’s economic development committee, plans to meet at 7 tonight at the senior center, 1115 Darrington St. The public is welcome to attend.

Marysville: Planning commission opening
The Marysville Planning Commission will have an open seat when a commissioner steps down in September, a position Deidre Kvangnes has held since her appointment in June 2001. A nominee will be appointed by Mayor Jon Nehring to a six-year term. Applicants must reside in the city.
Meetings are at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month in City Hall, 1049 State Ave. Those interested should send a brief letter of interest and resume to the City Clerk’s Office, Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Sept. 2.
