Arlington: Road meeting Tuesday
A meeting about the development of 173rd Street NE is scheduled Tuesday in the Arlington Council Chambers located behind City Hall.
An initial meeting about the new road was held in December. Since then, city staff has gathered information about
noise, traffic impacts and options for the design of the new street between Smokey Point Blvd. and 43rd Avenue NE. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. to give residents more information about planning ideas and concepts.
Arlington City Hall is located at 238 N. Olympic.
Backpacks for kids
Churches and businesses are once again teaming up to fill backpacks with school supplies.
The Back2School Rally is scheduled at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at Presidents Elementary School, 505 E. Third Street.
Last year’s event served 500 children from the Arlington and Lakewood School Districts. In addition to providing school supplies, businesses donated haircuts, dental checkups, and free food to families that attended the event.

Granite Falls: Show-N-Shine car show
The 31st annual Show-n-Shine car show event is scheduled Saturday along S. Granite Avenue. Day-of-show registration is $20 and is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon.
The event is planned from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the show go to Granite Falls High School vocational scholarship recipients.

The nonprofit is a league for kids ages 6 to 13 in Marysville.

Marysville: Football league car washes
The Marysville Youth Football League has scheduled multiple car washes Aug. 13.
Proceeds from six car washes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at different locations will go toward registration scholarships, the cost of new gear and the replacement of old gear. The funds are also expected to help with insurance costs, field fees and referees.
Car washes are planned at Burger Mill, 707 State Ave.; Gold’s Gym, 1052 State Ave.; Grocery Outlet stores at 3711 88th St. NE and 9620 State Ave.; Haggen, 3711 88th St. NE.http://tinyurl.com/439znp3;http://tinyurl.com/439znp3[URL].
Stanwood: Art show to help animals
Pet lovers and art patrons can come together Thursday at a wine tasting.
“PAW-CASSO,” an animal theme art show at Gallery by the Bay, is set to feature work by 50 artists. Tickets to the show’s opening and wine tasting event from 5 to 8 p.m. are $15 and are available at Gallery by the Bay. Proceeds benefit N.O.A.H., a nonprofit animal shelter.
The show is set to continue through Sept. 5. Other events include a dog and cat costume contest on Sept. 3 to benefit the Camano Animal Shelter Association. All artwork is available for purchase.
