Head to Mukilteo to learn about beach creatures

It’s summer. (No, really, it is. Honest.)

And that means there’s no time like the present to spend a day at the beach.

Thanks to local conservation groups, including the Washington State University volunteer Beach Watchers, you can visit the shores of our local waters — and learn loads — at two free Beach Expo events, including one today at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, 609 Front St., Mukilteo, and another on Aug. 13 at Kayak Point County Park, 15610 Marine Drive, Stanwood.

Expo hours for both events are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to coincide with especially low tides for easier wildlife viewing.

Learn about sea stars, crab fishing and local salmon restoration, or simply explore and get your burning questions answered by trained beach naturalists.
