Arlington: Benefit for Purrfect Pals shelter
Northwest Cellars of Kirkland is planning a special event to benefit Purrfect Pals, a cat shelter in Arlington.
Admission to the event, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, is $10 and includes a wine tasting. Author Wendy Wahman is scheduled to sign her book, “A Cat Like That,” and people can buy bottles of wine with the Purrfect Pals label.

Coupeville: Ebey’s Landing open house
Island County, Coupeville, and the Ebey’s Landing Trust Board staff are working together to create a process for the review of development applications with the Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve.
Ebey’s Landing is the nation’s first historical reserve, created in 1978 to protect a rural working landscape and community on central Whidbey Island. The reserve includes 17,500 acres, 17 farms, more than 400 historical structures, native prairies, two state parks, miles of shoreline, a network of trails and the second oldest town in Washington.
An open house is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday for people to learn about the final draft of the Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve Design Guidelines. The meeting is planned at the Service Alternatives Conference Room at 20 NW First Street.

Lake Stevens: Talent show for Night Out
The Lake Stevens Family Center is planning to host a talent show Aug. 2 during the community’s National Night Out Against Crime event.
Those who want to perform for up to three minutes can call the Lake Stevens Family Center to register and receive a performance time.
The National Night Out Against Crime event from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2 on Main Street and at North Cove Park is set to include children’s activities, a free dinner and the third annual “Guns and Hoses” showdown between the Lake Stevens police and fire departments. Street hockey is to be hosted by the Boys & Girls Club.
The purpose of the national night out is to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.

Marysville: Schools surveying parents
The Marysville School District is surveying parents to find out how they perceive the operation of Marysville schools and the district.

Marysville: Sign up for sports camp
There are still spots open for the Marysville Parks and Recreation Mini Ultimate Sports Camp.
The camp is designed to give children ages 4 to 6 an introduction to soccer, basketball and baseball. The camp costs $59 and is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 18, 20, and 22 at Allen Creek Elementary School.
