Arrest made after Lake Stevens officer’s motorcycle run over during traffic stop

LAKE STEVENS — A Snohomish man was being held for investigation of attempted murder after he allegedly crushed a police motorcycle under the wheels of his Land Rover during a traffic stop in Lake Stevens on Monday.

A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy pulled over the Land Rover because it had expired tabs. As the deputy dismounted from his motorcycle, the driver threw the SUV into reverse. The motorcycle was knocked beneath the wheels and dragged about 100 feet, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday in Everett District Court.

The deputy wasn’t hit, but “recognizing a threat and fearing for his safety” drew his handgun.

“The suspect then put his car into drive and accelerated so rapidly that tire marks were left on the pavement and front fender of the motorcycle,” the affidavit said.

A Lake Stevens police officer recalled a police bulletin about Jacob Eugene Guyor, also known as Jacob Vike. According to the bulletin, the man was believed to be involved in a similar incident in Everett earlier this year. The deputy was shown Guyor’s photo in the bulletin and reportedly recognized him as the Land Rover driver, the affidavit said.

Meanwhile, the Land Rover was found, abandoned, not far from where Monday’s violence unfolded. The vehicle wasn’t registered, but the seller’s report showed its owner is a woman who has a child with Guyor, the affidavit said.

After being tracked down and arrested, Guyor “said that he didn’t do anything and refused to make any statements,” the affidavit said.

He was wanted on a corrections department warrant when arrested.
