A manhunt was under way in Lake Stevens Monday morning after a man reportedly backed into a police motorcycle before taking off from a traffic stop.

A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a silver Range Rover or Land Rover-type vehicle with expired tabs around 11:30 a.m. Monday. It happened near 79th Avenue SE and 20th Street SE in Lake Stevens.

The deputy got off his motorcycle before the driver backed into it. The deputy was not injured, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

Deputies and Lake Stevens police were looking for the man, who appeared to be in his 30s. Part of their search was in the Frontier Village area, Hover said. The vehicle is believed to be a mid-1980s or early 90s model.
