Everett: Public hearing on fence rules
The Everett City Council plans to hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on proposed changes to fence standards in the Core Residential Area, which is made up of designated residential areas surrounding downtown.
The standards are int
ended to create a safe pedestrian environment and an aesthetically pleasing streetscape. They include restrictions on height, transparency and setbacks for fences near city streets.

Fourth of July parade participants sought
The city of Everett is accepting applications for the Fourth of July parade. Applicants must have “real entertainment value.” That means you can play music, dance, or even build a float.
Applications will be reviewed by the parade committee based on creativity, how it applies to the parade, and the use of music or sound.
Applications for the parade are due May 16, and should be sent to: Colors of Freedom Fourth of July Parade, 2930 Wetmore Ave. Suite 10A, Everett, WA 98201. You can also email them to esmith@ci.everett.wa.us.
Accepted applicants will be notified June 1, and will receive additional information.

Sign up for Cruzin’ to Colby classic car show
Seattle Rod-Tiques is hosting the Cruzin’ to Colby event May 29 & 30, for classic cars.
The first 400 pre-registered vehicles will do a controlled cruise on Colby Avenue in Everett from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Staging for the cruise starts at 10:30 am. Pre-registration includes two tickets for the Sunday dance at the Holiday Inn on 3150 Pine St. from 6 p.m. to 10 pm. The dance will feature Mike Wright & the Blue Sharks. The first 800 cars that pre- register are eligible for the Monday Show & Shine.

Monroe: Wastewater plant work planned
The city has selected the Woodland-based Stellar J. Corporation, as the company to improve the efficiency and increase the capacity of Monroe’s wastewater treatment plant.
The company’s $8.64 million bid was the lowest of the eight bids received, a city employee said. The contract was awarded April 19. Work is scheduled to start this summer and last 600 days.
