MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Pilchuck softball team came from a run down to beat Monroe 2-1 in Thursday’s Wesco North game at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Marysville Pilchuck’s Haley Fritz led off the fifth inning with a triple and scored on Megan Rollings’ two-run home run to left field.

Monroe loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh but the game ended on a fly out.

Catherine Brakke scored Monroe’s only run on a Kathleen Sundet RBI double in the fourth inning. Britney Hedin batted 2-for-3 for Monroe.

Fritz finished 3-for-4 for Marysville Pilchuck. Casey Zachry batted 2-for-3 for the Tomahawks.

First-place Marysville Pilchuck plays at second-place Arlington, the only team to beat the Tomahawks this season, today.

“It’s nice to head in (to that game) with the win. We had to play under pressure. We were down 1-0 and had to come back,” said Marysville Pilchuck coach KT Allyn. “Getting that experience under our belt before having to play Arlington is helpful.”
