Monroe: Learn about Highway 522 work
The Washington state Department of Transportation invites the community to learn about upcoming construction on Highway 522.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m., Tuesday at Monroe High School, 17001 Tester Road.
Engineers are scheduled to be
at the meeting for two hours to answer questions about what to expect during the construction, which is planned to start this spring.
The work includes widening Highway 522 to a four-lane, divided highway from the Snohomish River bridge to the U.S. 2 in Monroe. Four bridges and a roundabout also are part of this project.

Camano Island: Learn about crabbing
Washington State University Extension’s Camano Beach Watchers group is scheduled to host a presentation by Don Velasquez, a biologist with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, on crabs and crabbing.
The free presentation is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.

Coupeville: School festival is Saturday
The Coupeville School District offers a School Life Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Coupeville High School, 501 S. Main Street.
During the festival, people can learn about technology in teaching; view art displays, woodworking, metalworking and senior projects; sample community education classes; see drama and music performances and history day presentations, eat a school lunch, take a school tour and learn about math programs.
10th District: Town hall by telephone
State Rep. Norma Smith, R-Clinton, is inviting people in the 10th District to participate in a telephone town hall meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. March 31.
