Arlington: Build, race your ‘brushbot’

The Arlington Library offers a fun activity for teens after school today.

Participants can build a small robot with a toothbrush and then race the “brushbot” for a prize.

Earthquake prep workshop Thursday

A 90-minute earthquake awareness and preparedness workshop offered by the Arlington office of emergency management, is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the city council chambers, 110 E. Third St.

Senior center to host chicken dinner

The Stillaguamish Senior Center’s monthly chicken dinner is set for noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.

Cost is $8 or $7 for seniors and $5 for children younger than 12. The menu includes baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw and roll. Proceeds benefit programs for seniors.

Granite Falls: Sign-ups for kindergarten

Kindergarten registration packets are set to be available Monday from Mountain Way or Monte Cristo Elementary schools.

All students who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 may register for kindergarten for the 2011-12 school year. A birth certificate and immunization documentation are required for registration.

Marysville: Tip-A-Cop for Special Olympics

Arlington, Lake Stevens and Marysville police are joining forces to raise money for Special Olympics of Washington.

Tip-A-Cop at the Smokey Point Red Robin is set for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the restaurant, 16814 Twin Lakes Ave. Police officers plan to help out in return for donations to Special Olympics.

Stanwood: Voices of Hope concert Sunday

The Voices of Hope concert, an annual fundraiser for Stanwood Housing Hope, begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 26900 78th Ave. NW.

The concert and a bake sale that follows benefit the Lervick Family Village.
