Federal authorities will order U.S. airlines to inspect 683 Boeing Co. 757s for cracks, reports Bloomberg News.

The Federal Aviation Administration posted a notice today that it will issue the directive on Jan. 10.

The move comes after an American Airlines 757 lost pressure and was forced to make an emergency landing in October. That plane was found to have a one-foot by two-foot hole. United Airlines also found a crack in a 757 in September.

Boeing already recommended inspections of 757s to carriers in November.
