We live in a creative zone. So many talented musicians, so little time to write about them all.

Today The Herald begins an occasional listing of new recordings by Snohomish County singers and songwriters.

To submit information for this column, email gfiege@heraldnet.com. And keep ‘em coming.

“Love is Everywhere”

Artist: Stacy Jones of Edmonds

About Jones: The leader of the Stacy Jones Band, she is one of the region’s top blues queens. Actually, one could describe her work as blues rock, roots rock and Americana. Think Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Nina Simone, Etta James, Roseanne Cash and Big Mama Thornton.

Her band includes guitarist Jeff Menteer, drummer Rick Bowen and her dad, bassist Tommy Jones. Also on the album are Sean Denton, Mike Marining and Lee Oskar.

Jones began singing and playing piano as a little girl. She is a guitarist and a pretty darn good harmonica player. Jones is a previous winner of numerous awards, including Best Female Vocalist from the Washinton Blues Society.

“Love is Everywhere” is her fourth studio recording and her seventh album. T

he album was recorded and mixed by Floyd Reitsma at Studio Litho in Seattle.

Hear her live: At Music at the Marina from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 24, Port Gardner Landing, 1700 W. Marine View Drive, Everett.

“Too Late For Regrets”

Artist: Kern West from Lake Stevens

What she says: “In the comfort of my childhood home, my dad (Jim West) and I began collaborating on a few new songs that set in motion a whirlwind of events that eventually developed into a full album.”

“This project has been in the works over the last year and was recorded and produced by the legendary producer Brian Ahern (for Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and others) at Easter Island Surround in Nashville, Tennessee.”

A little bit more: The 10-song CD is a showcase for Kern West’s beautiful just-right-for-country voice. Kern said she is inspired by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Anne Murray and K.D. Lang.

Evidently her father, Jim, has a long list of recording credits in Los Angeles. He is the key writer of most of the tunes on “Too Late for Regrets,” though Kern obviously knows the sounds of good country music.
