Lynnwood man, 29, killed in 2-car crash on Highway 99

LYNNWOOD — A Lynnwood man died after a two-car crash on Highway 99 in Lynnwood Monday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The man’s identity wasn’t immediately released, pending notification of his family. He was 29 and driving a Chevrolet Equinox.

The crash in the 156th Street SW block was reported shortly before midnight.

The driver of the other car, a Honda Accord, is an Edmonds man, 52. He was not injured, troopers said.

The driver who died had been traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, according to an accident memo. The other car also was southbound.

Troopers said the Equinox struck the Accord on its side and each hit utility poles.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
