MARYSVILLE — A 45-year-old man reportedly stabbed his wife multiple times Saturday after learning she was filing for divorce.

The Marysville man drove her to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and left, said police Sgt. Pete Shove.

The hospital notified officers of her admittance around 1 a.m. The woman, 30, was in critical but stable condition. She was awaiting surgery Saturday afternoon, Shove said.

Marysville police asked law enforcement in surrounding counties to keep a look out for the man.

Whatcom County deputies and state troopers found the suspect’s car idling on Chuckanut Drive near Bow. A hose had been strung from the exhaust pipe to the passenger compartment.

The man was hospitalized for treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning. Officers expected to book him into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault.
