Windstorm today could pack gusts up to 60 mph

EVERETT — Gusts up to 60 mph are expected to blow across the Puget Sound on Monday.

A strong, wet storm front will move into the Washington coastline, bringing gale-force winds to the lowlands from Everett to Bellingham, according to the National Weather Service. It’s expected to peak in the afternoon.

Plan for sustained winds of 40 mph in north Snohomish County. That’s powerful enough to topple trees, snap power lines and damage roofs, according to the forecast.

Winds south of Everett should top out around 50 mph, if the storm follows its most likely route. However, it could track further south toward Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia.

A high wind advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Monday. The rest of the week in Everett calls for rain, rain, showers, wind and rain.
