Snohomish man, 63, missing from home since Monday

SNOHOMISH — A Snohomish family is asking for the public’s help to find Henry John Groeneveld, 63, who has been missing for days.

Groeneveld went home from his job as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier Monday morning. His wife spoke with him at their home on Union Avenue, and he may have left in an agitated state at 10 a.m., said his daughter, Liz Dickson, 33. He brought no keys, no cell phone and no wallet. He left saying something about going to “the river.”

Drones, a police boat and volunteer search parties have been checking the Snohomish and Pilchuck rivers. Officers have been reviewing security footage, to no avail. Groeneveld is in good shape, and walks almost everywhere he goes.

“He’s a fit little dude,” Dickson said. She asked that anglers keep a close eye on the waters. On Wednesday she was handing out flyers from a makeshift search headquarters in the town’s McDonald’s.

Groeneveld is described as 5-foot-7, about 150 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a red knit cap, a brown pullover and blue postal worker pants.
