Mom and brother turn in suspect in Stanwood robberies

STANWOOD — A serial robber who reportedly targeted several businesses in Stanwood was arrested Tuesday.
The 31-year-old man has been connected with at least three robberies, according to a probable cause affidavit. His mother and brother went to police after seeing his photo in news reports. The Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force later found him in Shoreline.
The man is suspected of robbing a gas station on 104 Drive NW twice in late December, just days apart. The robber dressed in dark clothing and was carrying a silver revolver. About $625 and cigarettes were taken, according to a probable cause affidavit.
He reportedly told the clerk he was sorry before running away.
On Jan. 12, a bank on 27th Street NW was robbed shortly before close. The robber handed a teller a piece of paper that said he had a gun and instructed the employee to put money in a bag, according to court papers.
The man has been booked into jail for three counts of first-degree robbery. Several other law enforcement agencies are investigating the suspect for similar crimes.
