Clinic serves more than 1,000

EVERETT — A free AMEN health clinic was held April 20 and 22 at Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett. More than 700 volunteers helped serve more than 1,000 people, providing free dental procedures, vision exams, medical exams, X-rays, massages, hair cuts and many more services.

Chaplain Kami Borg, of Everett, prayed with many of those who came. “I learned more about the housing crisis in our community,” she told organizers.

The clinic helped identify pre-diabetes and diabetes, some macular degeneration and glaucoma, and at least one cancer diagnosis, organizers said. A total of 550 glasses were prescribed, which patients will be able to pick up next month from local churches. People also were connected to follow-up care with local health providers and other community organizations.

The event gets its name from the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network, a program of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
