Correctional workers receive state awards

Five state corrections employees working in Snohomish County received awards from the Washington State Department of Corrections at an April 20 ceremony held in Tumwater. In all, 74 correctional employees statewide received awards out of a pool of 1,073 nominations.

Community Corrections Officer of the Year: Marlanea Aspden, community corrections officer, Marysville Field Office

Correctional Officer of the Year: Christopher Lee, Monroe Correctional Complex, Washington State Reformatory Unit

Employee of the Year: Christine Gomes, psychologist, Sex Offender Treatment and Assessment Program, Monroe Correctional Complex, Twin Rivers Unit

Employee of the Year: Kirby Logan, corrections and custody officer, Monroe Correctional Complex, Washington State Reformatory Unit

Supervisor of the Year: Mike Obenland, Superintendent A, Monroe Correctional Complex, Washington State Reformatory Unit
