Corporate media ignores global warming

One recent fun fact that will alarm civilized people in every corner of the world is the U.S. corporate media’s approach to climate change.
In 2016, the U.S. corporate media discussed climate change and global warming for a total of 96 minutes. Contrast that with the recent royal wedding which consumed the airways unrelentingly for days on end. The staggering indifference showcased here is beyond comprehension.
We are in the midst of the sixth great extinction and the planet is beginning to convulse in its death throes. And the six corporations that control and regulate the media in the United States, the world’s biggest and most dangerous polluter, remain as vocal as an Easter Island statue.
This crucial information ban showcases the most dangerous and effective method of propaganda: deliberate omission. In 1953, 50 companies controlled and regulated the news media in the United States. Today that number is six. The corporate media’s omission on the catastrophic impact of global climate change highlights an entrenched reality that every citizen needs to meet head-on.
The corporate media serve only one master: their corporate interests. Mundane topics like global warming, imperialism, endless war and the insane acceleration or “modernization” of nuclear weapons is not worthy of comment. Instead we need to direct our collective energies on those cutting-edge stories such as the Kardashians, royal weddings and Brad’s latest romantic disaster.
The only silver lining here is that citizens are still able to find the truth if they are willing to take the time and make the effort to utilize alternative news sources.Without alternative media, we will collectively be at the mercy of corporate juggernauts that have made manufacturing consent, controlling the public mind and brainwashing a toxic propaganda art form that threatens life on Earth.
