INDEX — The search was expected to resume Tuesday for a man presumed drowned on the South Fork Skykomish River between Index and Baring.

Members of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office dive team searched into Monday night for the 24-year-old Woodinville man.

A SnoHawk 1 helicopter crew will be searching the area Tuesday, but the dive team has not been deployed, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The missing man jumped into the water near Eagle Falls and did not resurface, Ireton said.

Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 7 as well as Gold Bar were part of the search Monday.

Spring can be a particularly dangerous time of year around lakes and rivers, according to the sheriff’s office and local fire districts. Currents run strong and the water is extremely cold from snow melt.
