Gerry and Bonnie Gibson, of Sultan, received a $2,000 grant for their nonprofit, Gibby Home Fire Prevention, from the Tulalip Cares Charitable Fund to provide and install free smoke alarms in Snohomish County to anyone who needs them. Gibby Home Fire Prevention, a partner with the Red Cross, has provided and installed for free nearly 2,300 smoke alarms since March 2016.

The couple started the nonprofit in memory of their son, Greg “Gibby” Gibson, who died in a house fire in 2016. The Gibsons were named Red Cross Heroes in 2017 for their efforts.
