Railroad Days in Granite Falls

Railroad and Reunion Days is Saturday and features a grand parade at noon as well as a children’s parade. There will be a carnival and other activities through the weekend, including reunions at Granite Falls High School.

Bingo, brats and brews

Bingo, Brats & Brew will be held Saturday at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. Doors open at 4 p.m. Dinner will be available for sale, and bingo starts at 5:30 p.m. with regular games and blackouts.

The Monroe Community Senior Center plans a similar Beer, Brats & Bingo event, 6 p.m. Oct. 12. Cost is $20 for adults, and $10 for kids under age 12, which includes dinner. Beer is $5 extra. The Monroe center is at 276 Sky River Parkway.

Upcoming pancake breakfasts

Edmonds: 8:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 (first Friday) at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. Pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs, ham, biscuits and sausage gravy, beverages. Cost is $5.

Bothell: 8-11 a.m. Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 (first and third Saturdays) at the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 E Riverside Drive. Pancakes, eggs, ham (first Saturday) or sausage (third Saturday), coffee or tea, and orange juice. Cost is $5.

Snohomish: 8:30-10:30 a.m. Oct. 6 (first Saturday) at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. Pancakes or French toast, sausage or ham, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and beverages. Cost is $5, $3 for kids age 10 and younger.

Lake Stevens: A Norwegian Pancake Breakfast is served 7:30-10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 (third Saturday, September to May) at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE. Cost is $6; children under age 4 are free.

Monroe: 8-10 a.m. Oct. 20 (third Saturday) at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Pancakes or French toast, eggs, ham or sausage, beverages. Cost is $5, $3 under age 12.

Legion prime rib dinner

The Frank H. Hancock American Legion Post 92 and Auxiliary holds its next prime rib dinner at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 13 (second Saturdays). The Post is at 26921 88th Ave. NW, Stanwood.

The American Legion is a nationwide veterans organization open to those who serve in active duty or were honorably discharged after serving with the U.S. Armed Forces during periods of war, including the ongoing war on terrorism. There are multiple local posts in Snohomish County; find a list at legion.org or Monday’s In Uniform column, along with other veterans groups.

Genealogy 101

Sno-Isle Genealogical Society offers a free beginning genealogy class, 10-11 a.m. Saturday (and every first Saturday) at the SIGS Research Library, 19827 Poplar Way in Lynnwood’s Heritage Park.
