EVERETT — Moody’s Investors Service upgraded Snohomish County’s credit rating Wednesday.

The rating agency moved the county’s status to Aa1 from Aa2. The new score, the second-best available, should lower future borrowing costs.

“The stable outlook reflects the remarkably strong local economy, which is expected to continue to grow moderately, as well as the county’s solid finances that reflect stable management and healthy financial policies,” a Moody’s news release states.

County Executive Dave Somers pointed to the new rating as a sign of responsible stewardship of taxpayer money.
