ARLINGTON — A teen driver fled a serious injury crash that sent a car rolling into a power pole over the weekend south of Arlington, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

A car was slowing to make a right turn around 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 15600 block of 67th Avenue NE when it was rear-ended by a silver Audi A4.

The lead car rolled into a power pole, breaking it and leaving the pole at a tilt. The vehicle came to a rest on its roof. The driver, 41, suffered a head injury. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

A passenger, 49, was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington. The extent of her injuries wasn’t clear, sheriff’s spokeswoman Courtney O’Keefe said Monday.

Meanwhile, the Audi had rotated into a ditch and hit a tree. The driver did not check on the people in the other car, according to the sheriff’s office.

A police dog searched the area but could not find him.

A deputy later tracked down a man, 19, walking on 152nd Street NE about three-quarters of a mile west of the crash. He admitted to being the driver, according to police reports filed in court Monday.

He reportedly told a deputy he’d been drinking alcohol.

Sheriff’s deputies got a warrant to draw his blood for testing.

He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of two counts of vehicular assault and two counts of hit-and-run in an injury crash.

Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui maintained bail Monday at $500,000.
