Winner winner

The Stillaguamish Senior Center chicken dinner for all ages is noon to 2 p.m. Sunday and May 19 at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Menu includes roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, coleslaw, roll and pudding. Entertainment by Lee Howard.

Cost is $10 for adults, seniors $8, and children under 12 are $5. Proceeds benefit the center. Canned goods for food bank are welcome.

Happy Earth Day

Earth Day Celebration by 350 Everett’s People’s Climate March for the Planet, starts at 10 a.m. April 13 with a march at the Snohomish County Courthouse Plaza and Amphitheater, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Speakers and live music begin at 11 a.m.

Tree planting

Volunteers from Project SeaWolf will team up with Adopt A Stream Foundation to plant 1,000 trees next to Quilceda Creek from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strawberry Fields Park, 6100 152nd St. NE., Marysville.

Bite-sized solar

The Snohomish County Public Utility District has added an open house to answer questions about its new Community Solar program. The program aims to allow those who can’t afford their own rooftop solar unit, don’t have an adequate roof or live in rented housing to support the development of solar power. Customers can purchase units in a field of solar panels being built in Arlington. Each unit consists of one-fifth of a solar panel and will cost $120.

The open house will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Monroe Public Library, 1070 Village Way, Monroe.

Virtual reality

Interactive virtual reality demonstrations will be held at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., three days a week in April, May and June. Each participant will have the chance to try out a 15-minute session on either an Oculus Rift or Oculus Go headset. Sessions are free on first-come basis. Must be at least 13. Participants younger than 18 must have a signed parental consent form.

Sessions will take place at the following times: 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays; noon to 2 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Nonprofit focused on weight loss

Several local chapters of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), a nonprofit weight-loss club, meet at different days and times across Snohomish County. Meetings include a private weigh-in, peer support, information and awards for progress. First meeting is free.
