EVERETT — Road rage turned into gunfire on Highway 99 south of Everett earlier this month.
An Everett man, 40, was booked earlier this week into the Snohomish County Jail.
On April 19, an argument broke out between two drivers as they attempted to pull out of the Royal Casino parking lot, according to a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy report.
The driver of a black Toyota Tundra revved his engine behind a black Jeep Sierra, a witness told a sheriff’s deputy, according to court papers.
The witness reportedly said he heard someone say, “I have a gun. I will cap you.”
He then saw the two vehicles exit onto Highway 99 and, moments later, heard a gunshot.
The driver of the Toyota reported the incident to police. He said the Jeep kept blocking him as he tried to exit the casino’s parking lot. He threatened to ram the Jeep and told the driver he had a concealed pistol license.
The driver of the Toyota said he was passing the Jeep on Highway 99 when the driver fired a shot at him.
The Jeep made a U-turn, and the Toyota pursued it for a short time before stopping, the victim reportedly said.
The Toyota had a single bullet hole above the gas tank behind the driver’s door, according to documents.
The suspect was arrested for investigation of drive-by shooting, first-degree assault with a firearm, malicious mischief and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The deputy’s report indicated that the man had a previous felony conviction.
He was released from jail Thursday after posting bail.
Police were unable to locate his vehicle.
