Rock on
The 66th annual Gem, Jewelry and Mineral Show, with displays, minerals, fossils, jewelry and more, is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Everett Community College fitness center, 2206 Tower St. The Everett Rock & Gem Club event has exhibits, silent auction and kids activities. Free.

Powwow for the Salish Sea
“Restoring the Salish Sea” is the title of the 34th annual powwow hosted by the Edmonds Community College’s Native American Student Association this weekend.
The two-day event will have singing, drumming and dancing, arts and crafts. Musician and educator Arlie Neskahi, of the Navajo Nation of New Mexico, will be the master of ceremonies.
The event will start at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the college’s Seaview Gymnasium, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. It’s free.

Memorial Day event
The city of Mill Creek will host a ceremony May 27 starting at 9 a.m., in Library Park, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. Songs and a flag-raising are scheduled, plus a moment of silence. A parade will start around 11 a.m. on Main Street in the Mill Creek Town Center. Sailors from the USS Ralph Johnson are set to march. The city recently adopted the ship homeported at Naval Station Everett. Those attending are encouraged to park away from the town center and instead take Community Transit’s Swift Green Line to 153rd Street. Buses are set to run in that area every 20 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 8:40 p.m.

Wetlands talk
Russ Holmes, ecologist and retired Forest Service botanist, will talk about the functions and benefits of wetlands at 7 p.m. May 15 at the Island County Multi-Purpose Center, 141 N East Camano Drive. The Camano Wildlife Habitat Project has public presentations the third Wednesday of the month.

Opioid education session
The Everett Public Library is holding a free training session on using Naloxone, an opioid-reversal medication. It is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The session will provide an overview of what opioids are, how they affect our bodies, and how to reverse an overdose. Registration is required. Call 425-257-8000 to reserve a spot.

Get books at bargain prices at the Arlington Library book sale. All proceeds support the library. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Avenue.
