Call for artists

The City of Lynnwood is looking for artists, teaching artists or artist teams to create a nature-themed mural at South Lynnwood Park. The selected artist/team also will work with students in an artist residency to come up with ideas to incorporate into the mural. The budget is $15,000. Deadline to apply is Dec. 31.

PUD holiday light exchange

The Snohomish County PUD will hand out 10,000 strands of holiday lights from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday during its annual Helping Hands Holiday Bazaar.

Customers can bring up to five strands of incandescent lights and exchange them for free LED lights. LED lights last longer, reduce the risk of fire and use less energy than others, according to the PUD.

Additionally, children and parents are invited to participate in a free gingerbread house building activity from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both events will take place at the company headquarters at 2329 California St., Everett.

Lots of lutefisk

Bothell Sons of Norway is having a lutefisk and meatball dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at 23905 Bothell-Everett Highway in Bothell.

Enjoy a menu of lutefisk, meatballs, boiled potatoes, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. Served family style.

Cost is $27 adults, $10 youth. Ages 5 and younger free. Open to the public.

Lynnwood tree lighting

Food trucks, live jazz, a visit from Santa and other activities will be held at the annual Lynnwood Christmas tree lighting.

The festivities will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Silver Creek Family Church, 5326 176th St.

There will be free hot chocolate from Starbucks, a carnival slide, espresso cart, fire pits, face painting and a photo booth.

Santa’s visit and the tree lighting are set for 5:30 p.m.

Edmonds community bazaar

The Edmonds Church of God is hosting its sixth annual bazaar with more than 30 vendors selling unique holiday gifts.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 8224 220th St. SW.

Children are invited to take free photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a lunch and raffle.

WAYS TO GIVE

Blood donors needed

The American Red Cross is setting up blood donation stations in the area through Dec. 19.

In Mukilteo, residents can give blood at Kamiak High School from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 13.

The next opportunity is from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Avalon RockMeadow, at 19905 Bothell-Everett Highway.

Lastly, the American Red Cross on Lombard Avenue in Everett will be open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 19.

Those with type O blood are especially needed.
